A lot of bikers, especially those who are new to bike insurance, make the mistake of over insuring their bikes. This is a huge mistake for sure, and it is definitely not the best approach when it comes to bike insurance. In this part, we are going to take a closer look on this matter and see why over insuring is not the best way to go.

When you are involved in a motorcycle accident, the insurance company will quickly assess the situation and provide you with proper insurance coverage. If you think over insuring will give you more insurance coverage, you are completely wrong. The insurance company will only provide you with insurance coverage according to your bike’s market value – often only 80% of it – so over insuring will not give you any added benefit.

When you over insure your bike, the insurance premium will also be higher naturally. The extra costs you have to spend just to enjoy no added benefits can actually be allocated to other posts, such as starting to self-insure, and it will provide you with more benefits in the long-run.

Simply find the most affordable bike insurance with maximum coverage, and you will be able to enjoy the most benefits easily.
